Westwood Christian Centre
The Westwood Christian Centre is spectacularly situated - high on a hill above Slaithwaite, about 4 miles WSW of Huddersfield. Established as an Anglican mission church in 1865, it grew to include a large Hall attached to the main church building, with a spacious kitchen, toilet facilities, a Caretaker's flat and later still - a grassed tennis court!
The Wardens live "on site" and will be happy to welcome you to the Centre.
The Hall, grounds and adjoining areas are available for either evening or daytime use (for up to 70) or "basic sleepover" use (for up to 30) - it is ideal self-catering accommodation for Church, youth or family groups, children's parties, workshops, training days, Alpha days, meetings and retreats.
The completed project also includes 5 self-contained flats within the main church area, providing accommodation for up to 26 people (additional to Hall) for short stays, all year round.
Although we are only 2 miles from the M62, 15 minutes drive from Huddersfield and 40 minutes from Manchester or Leeds, here at Westwood there is a genuine "away from it all" atmosphere; far from the noise of towns and traffic, close to the Pennine Way and other walks; there are hills, valleys, ancient paths: many sights to see and places to enjoy.
